Ventilation Solutions to Prevent the Spread of the Virus

The presentation focuses on how the risk of infection in a public indoor space can be assessed and the key technology solutions to limit the spread of the virus. The speaker will also introduce the results of research done in offices and schools. They investigated the importance of ventilation, different air distribution solutions, and whether ventilation can be replaced or supplemented with air purifiers.

Jarek Kurnitski is a professor in Energy Performance of Buildings and Indoor Climate at Tallinn University of Technology. He has led the development of European ventilation guidelines since the spring of 2020 and is among the 40 top scientists who proved the aerosol spread of the coronavirus. 

On 13 May, in the Magazine Science, 40 top scientists proposed to the WHO to tighten requirements for ventilation systems in buildings to prevent the spread of corona, influenza and other airborne pathogens in public indoor spaces.
