Talent and Health
Ivo Fridolin is a Tenured Full Professor in Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech) and a CTO of Optofluid Technologies OÜ. He has a PhD since 2003 from Linköping University, Sweden. His main research interests are sensors with focus on biofluid optics for monitoring and early diagnosis of chronic diseases. Prof. Fridolin has published more than 100 scientific publications and abstracts and is inventor in several patents and patent applications. Technology transfer via industrial cooperation, IP and commercialization has been an important part of the R&D. This has led to the spin-off companies AS Ldiamon and Optofluid Technologies OÜ, and several awards (e.g. Winner of Tallinn Entrepreneurship Award 2017 and 2018). Recent research focuses on biooptical signals for better health in modern urban planning and biooptical signals for better care towards smarter artificial kidney care. The topics address a novel concept of „Well-being score“ based on measurable indicators to evaluate the site-specific qualities of urban environment based on the users’ psychological and physiological responses and the characteristics of the urban environment on the city and the site scale, and a new, real-time multicomponent (MCM)-sensor to monitor intradialytically uremic markers.
