The major pain points of entrepreneurs – how to retain people, develop business with innovation and be successful during the green transition are in focus at this year’s Ülemiste City Future Forum.

These topics bring a number of well-known practitioners to Tallinn on May 10–11, who, through their experiences, will give ideas for implementing future trends in everyday life of Estonian companies. During the two conference days, the attendees can listen to practising visionaries and share experiences.

The future of mobility will be opened by Nicolas Debrin, head of the Volkswagen Group’s global car software company CARIAD Estonia, whose work focuses on both strategic ideas and their successful implementation on a daily basis. He will talk to the participants about the innovation in the automotive industry and the mobile future as a result.

Why should a business think about artificial intelligence?

Business strategist and technology expert Elin Hauge brings artificial intelligence to a practical level from the point of view of companies and helps to think of ways to combine business strategy and artificial intelligence.

No successful company today can avoid innovation and data economy. In the panel, the representatives of Eurora, Kone, Accelerate Estonia, the Tax and Customs Board and Tallinn University of Technology will discuss how the society will benefit from innovation based on data economy and how companies could prepare for it.

Jukka Patrikainen, ABB Motion Baltic Countries Lead Business Manager, whose strength has been to combine sustainability and energy efficiency in ABB’s operations, shares a practical view from the business side.

The healthcare of the future is an indicator of the strength of the company

Thomas Metcalfe from the pharmaceutical company Roche will bring the possibilities of value-based healthcare to the listeners, and Ilona Ylinampa, Deputy Managing Director of Fujitsu Finland, will talk about why leaders should pay attention to the healthcare of the future and what is it anyway.

What could the broad-based digitization of healthcare bring, and what should company managers consider in this area? Panelists from Veriff, Tallinn University of Technology and representatives of Activate Health, Reitan Convenience Estonia, Health Founders and Fujitsu Finland will share their experiences.

Does greener business apply to everyone?

The Future Forum also focuses on the connections between business and the green transition. In the panel, representatives of Green Tiger, DPD, Thermory, Single.Earth and the city of Tallinn will discuss what steps companies could take in the name of sustainability and how to give new momentum to the green transition. At the same time, one must ask how this affects prices and what is the mindset of our society to go along with all of this and make environmentally friendly decisions at the level of individuals.

Jan Grolig, Chief Operating Officer of Stargate Hydrogen, a fast-growing deep-tech pioneer in the field of next-generation green hydrogen production and emission-free solutions, will share his company’s experience in the keynote presentation.

A fast track for researchers and business

On the second day of the conference, EduFest, there is an extraordinary opportunity to participate in 45-minute training sessions for free. Additionally, a green innovation workshop led by Estonian Business and Innovation Agency and the City of Tallinn will take place at EduFest.
